3M™ Firestop Products
3M’s line of innovative firestopping solutions includes:
- Fire and water barrier tapes – protect construction and perimeter joints from fire, smoke, and water damage. Available in multiple widths and lengths, this translucent fireproofing tape sticks to most building materials.
- Electrical box inserts – help contain fire, delaying damage to infrastructures in electrical boxes and switches. 3M Hyper-GS intumescent technology adds a flexible material that expands 100 times to contain fire and limit temperature rise.
Specified Technologies, Inc. (STI®)
STI offers a variety of firestopping caulks, sealants, putties, collars, fire-rated pathways, and more—such as the SpecSeal® Firestop Pillows and Blocks. Both meet exacting criteria for ASTM E814, ASTM E119, and CAN/ULC-S115 and are great for applications involving data, power/control cables, innerducts, or where assembly access is limited.
- SpecSeal Firestop Pillows – through-penetration cushions with a mineral fiber core sealed in a water-resistant, intumescent membrane. They provide up to four-hour ratings for penetrations through gypsum, concrete, CMU, or steel deck floors.
- SpecSeal Firestop Blocks – intumescent urethane foam blocks applied by stacking like bricks, which expand in high temperatures to impede fire, smoke, and gas. They are lightweight and re-installable, can be cut to size, and provide up to two-hour ratings for penetrations through most construction.
Metacaulk® by RectorSeal® & Balco
Under parent company CSW Industrials, Inc., RectorSeal and Balco offer many high-quality Metacaulk products (sealants, putties, coatings, wraps, etc.) to prevent the spread of flames, hot gases, and smoke through penetrations and joints in fire-rated construction.
Metacaulk Pass-Thru Pro, for instance, is a one-piece hinged metal firestop device designed for quick installation into fire-rated floors and walls. Able to accommodate multiple penetrations, both the square and round versions can be re-entered with new penetrations at any time.
Soudal Firestop Solutions
Soudal firestop products (sealants, caulks, foams, and more) prevent the spread of fire, smoke, and toxic gas through construction openings like fire-rated walls and floor assemblies.
